Touya Akira is the antagonist of the anime and manga Hikaru no Go, created by Hotta Yumi and Obata Takeshi. The manga consists of 1 - 23 volumes and the anime consists of 1 - 75 episodes. Touya Akira is the son of a great Go pro, Touya Koyo (also refered to as Touya Meijin) and because of his father's passion for Go it has grown upon Touya and he has been learning Go since early childhood.

Everyday he plays against his father and his Go skills, compared to other children his age is way beyond their level. He understands that his Go is better than others his age. Touya Meijin does not allow Touya to participate in children's go tournaments as he is afraid that Touya, with his strength in Go, may crush the passion fo Go for other children.

Therefore Touya plays go with older people and feels a sense of loneliness for he cannot relate to someone his own age. But everything changes when Shindou Hikaru appears (the protagonist) - a boy who seems to have never played Go in his life... the story takes on from here.
